Some chameleons have tounges longer than their bodies.
Chameleon is a reptile i.e., an air-breathing, cold-blooded, egg-laying vertebrate with an outer covering of scales and a bony skeleton. They are similar to lizards. Here are some fascinating facts about chameleons:
The upper and lower eyelids are joined, with a small round opening in the middle for the pupil. They can rotate and focus their eyes separately to look at two different objects at the same time! They have a full 360-degree view around their body. When a chameleon sees its prey, its both eyes can focus in the same direction to get a clearer view.
Chameleons can change the color of their skin and camouflage with the surroundings.
They have a very long tongue (sometimes, it is longer than their body) with a sticky substance in the end. When the prey gets touched by the chameleon’s tongue, the prey gets stuck to the edge of the tongue. Chameleons are very fast in catching the insects.
